HD KSOE Receives Order for a FSRU

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), a shipbuilding intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai, announced on March 6 that it has signed an order for a 170,000 m3-class floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) valued at KRW 483.9 billion (about US$364 million).

Built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, the FSRU is 294 meters long and 46 meters wide. It is the first FSRU order taken by HD Hyundai Group globally for this year with delivery scheduled by July 30, 2027.FSRU is a special type of vessel that can vaporize liquefied natural gas (LNG) at sea and transport it to land.

Including the latest order, HD KSOE has taken orders for 64 new vessels valued at $7.79 billion, achieving 57.7% of its annual order target of $13.5 billion. In terms of ship type the order book includes 6 LNG carriers, 25 product tankers, 21 LPG/ammonia carriers, 1 VLEC, 2 CO2 carriers, 2 VLCCs, 3 mid-sized crude carriers, 2 PCTCs, 1 FSRU and 1 offshore unit.
