CIMC Zero Carbon Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park Project Construction Started

On the morning of March 2nd, Yantai City’s key project groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of CIMC Zero Carbon Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park located in Laishan District.

The CIMC Zero Carbon Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park project is a major undertaking for Shandong Province in 2024, with a total investment of 8 billion yuan. The planned land area for the project is approximately 1500 mu (about 247 acres), and the total construction area is about 1 million square meters. The current phase one of the industrial park has a total construction area of about 225,000 square meters, including 10 factory buildings with an area of approximately 154,000 square meters. In addition to the factory area, there are also plans for research and development zones, hotel apartments, exhibition halls, small commercial areas, and other comprehensive service zones.

The project adheres to the principles of “green, low-carbon, and humanistic” by integrating Yantai’s maritime culture and CIMC Raffles’ humanistic philosophy. It prioritizes renewable energy as the primary source of infrastructure consumption, from utilizing rooftop photovoltaic energy, equipping with energy storage and smart microgrids, innovatively using wooden structures for exhibition halls, designing sky gardens in leisure areas, to employing prefabricated construction methods for industrial standard factory buildings, and implementing efficient digital management of energy usage in the park’s later stages. This approach ensures that the entire lifecycle—from architectural design and construction to intelligent operation—is truly green and low-carbon, committed to setting a benchmark for the industry-leading, smart ecological construction of Yantai’s “zero carbon” parks.

The project primarily focuses on attracting investment from upstream and downstream enterprises within the offshore engineering industry. To date, companies from Norway, Singapore, Italy, China, and other regions specializing in thrusters, air conditioning, deck machinery, low-carbon materials, electrical appliances, valves, piping, and interior fittings have signed letters of intent to join the park.

Against the backdrop of an overall positive trend in the shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry, the construction of the industrial park will vigorously promote the further aggregation of shipbuilding and offshore engineering support enterprises to Yantai. It will powerfully serve the Bohai Rim region and radiate to the Japanese and Korean markets, shortening the distribution cycle to main assembly companies like CIMC Raffles, reducing production and transportation costs, enhancing cooperation efficiency among upstream and downstream enterprises, decreasing carbon emissions, and achieving green manufacturing. This contributes to Yantai’s new journey towards its trillion-yuan GDP goal and realizes its ambition to become the central city of the Bohai region.
