Southeast Shipbuilding Launches Two Vessels

On February 29th, the multifunctional Service Operation Vessel(SOV) (MW913-1) built by Southeast Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of ujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (FSIGC), was successfully launched. It is a large-scale multifunctional SOV for offshore wind power which is independently designed and constructed in China and has fully independent intellectual property rights.

With an overall length of 94.9 meters, a beam of 22.8 meters and a depth of 9 meters, the SOV is equipped with a number of functions such as sea cable repair, laying of inter-area cables in the wind farm, and maintenance of the wind farm, etc., and is capable of realizing fixed-point directional operation, flexible shuttling and fixed-point transfer of goods under adverse sea conditions. It is classed by CCS and meets the requirement of unlimited navigation area, equipped with DP2 power positioning system.

With the development of offshore wind power industry towards the deep-sea, the demand for deep-sea wind power operation and maintenance has increased, requiring the use of more professional offshore wind SOVs. The current offshore wind SOVs are generally applicable to offshore waters. And there are pain points such as poor applicability of sea conditions, low service efficiency, and inability to operate continuously for deep-sea wind farms.

While this multi-function SOV’s comprehensive performance is at the top level, its configuration of offshore wind power intelligent operation and maintenance system, cable laying operation system and burying ploughs and other core equipment are fully localized. It is capable of providing deep-sea O&M services for the offshore wind power industry, as well as marine cable laying and overhaul engineering services. Thus, It will effectively alleviate the problems of constraints on operation and maintenance of deep-sea wind power, poor accessibility of offshore wind turbines, poor sea conditions, etc., and provide high-efficiency operation and maintenance services for deep-sea wind power farms.

On February 28, the 1800TEU container ship (MW463-4) built by Southeast Shipbuilding for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) was successfully launched.

The the 1800TEU container ship has an overall length of 172 meters, a beam of 28.40 meters, a depth of 16.00 meters, a design draft of 8.50 meters and classed by DNV. It can navigate in unlimited sea area and is suitable for the transportation of dry containers, cold containers and specific dangerous goods containers.

MSC is the first shipping company in the world in its container ship transportation capacity. At present, FSIGC handholds 12 container ships from the company, including 2 3,700 TEU container ships and 10 1,800 TEU container ships.
