Beihai Shipbuilding Inks For Two 210,000 dwt Ammonia Ready Bulk Carriers with Singapore’s Berge Bulk

On February 29th, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC) and Berge Bulk Singapore Pte. Ltd, successfully signed a contract for the construction of 2 x 210,000 dwt Ammonia Ready bulk carriers.

The 210,000 dwt Ammonia DF/DF Ready bulk carrier is designed by CSDC, a design company under Beihai Shipbuilding. With an overall length of 300.00 meters, a beam of 50.00 meters, a depth of 25.20 meters, a structural draught of 18.40 meters and a speed of 14.0 knots, it can meet the requirements of Phase III of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). Also, it is designed with ammonia fuel reservation, which will be equipped with ammonia-fueled main engine at a later stage, realizing “zero-carbon” operation.

At present, Beihai Shipbuilding continues to focus on the market of large bulk carriers with 48 NEWCASTLEMAX-type bulk carriers in hand, with the market share ranking first in the world. Among them, new energy green ship type hand-held orders accounted for more than 90%.

It is understood that BERGE BULK, headquartered in Singapore, is one of the world’s leading independent dry bulk shipowners. The company currently manages a fleet of more than 80 ships, with a controlled capacity of more than 14 million deadweight tons. The fleet covers all types of dry bulk carriers from handysize bulk carriers to ultra-large ore carriers. BERGE BULK has always been committed to providing quality capacity to serve the world’s leading cargo owners and global charterers.
