On February 26, a signing ceremony was held for Guichi Ship Green Intelligent Manufacturing Project, during which Guichi District of Chizhou City, Anhui Province signed a framework cooperation agreement with Shanghai Baoye Group Co.

According to the development requirements of shipbuilding industry in Anhui Province, Guizhi Shipbuilding Industry Base will become a Yangtze River shipbuilding industry base with greater influence in China and the largest scale in Anhui, with one million tons as well as one of the largest inland green intelligent shipbuilding bases in China after its completion.

The project is located in Wusha Town, Guichi District, with a total investment of 5.03 billion yuan. After put into operation, Guizhi Shipbuilding Industry Base will accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the ship manufacturing industry in the whole region, and accelerate the construction of a modern shipbuilding industry system linking ship manufacturing, ship supporting and ship production services.

It is reported that the project is designed by CSSC Ninth Design & Research Institute(CSSC NDRI). With an area of 669.5 acres and a planned annual shipbuilding capacity of 1 million DWT, the shipbuilding industry base will build high-end shipbuilding production facilities (workshops, warehouses, yards, etc.), utility and power supporting facilities as well as auxiliary living facilities. The total construction area of the project is about 215,000 m2, of which the productive construction area is about 193,000 m2 and various auxiliary construction areas are about 21,000 m2.

It is reported that Guichi Shipbuilding Industrial Base was established in July 2009, covering an area of more than 1,684 acres and occupying 2,800 meters of Yangtze River shoreline. Through 15 years of development, it has become a shipbuilding industry base with the largest number of shipbuilding enterprises and the largest area among the shipbuilding industry bases along the river in Anhui Province, with 8 ship repairing and building enterprises, among which 7 enterprises have been put into operation, and 4 of them have the qualification of constructing Grade II Class I steel ships; and the other 3 enterprises have the ability of constructing Grade II Class II steel ships.

Since 2021, the annual shipbuilding completion volume of the base has exceeded 400,000 DWT, 500,000 DWT and 600,000 DWT respectively. In 2023, the four companies in production will deliver a total of 30 ships, with a completion volume of 620,000 DWT, an output value of nearly RMB 3 billion (US$417 million) and a tax revenue of RMB 20 million (US$2.78 million).
