GSI Receives Order from EPS for 2 LNG Dual Fuel Tankers

On February 28, China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Guangzhou Shipbuilding International Company Limited (GSI), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), successfully signed a construction contract for two 110,000 dwt LNG dual-fuel tankers with Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd (EPS).

The contracted ship type is a new-generation LNG dual-fuel LR II tanker independently developed by GSI, which is based on “green environmental protection” and the design concept of “high efficiency, environmental protection and safety”.

Adopting fuel oil and LNG dual-fuel propulsion, the 110,000 dwt LNG dual-fuel tanker has an overall length of 250 meters, a beam of 44 meters, a structural draft of 14.7 meters, a deadweight tonnage of about 111,000 tons and a service speed of 14.5 knots. The emission standard meets the TIER Ⅲ standard of the IMO, and the EEDI(energy efficiency index) reaches the third phase requirement. Featuring fast speed, light empty weight, low energy consumption and strong adaptability, it has reached the world’s top level of the same type in energy consumption index, environmental performance and reliability requirements.

It is reported that in 2022, GSI has handed over the world’s first LNG dual-fuel Suezmax tanker to EPS, and signed a contract for the construction of two vessels of the same type in the following year.

Currently, EPS has ordered a new batch of green energy tankers from GSI, which will help the ower to develop clean alternative energy vessels and bring new vitality to the development of green shipping.
