Jiangnan shipyard Delivered a 99,000m3 VLEC

On February 26, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Jiangnan shipyard group held a naming and delivery ceremony for the 99,000 m3 very large ethane carrier(VLEC) “Pacific SP Minerva”. This is the third VLEC built for Shandong Ocean Group.

Pacific SP Minerva adopts the B-type cabin cargo containment system (BrilliancE), which was developed by Jiangnan Shipyard independently. It is 230 meters in overall length, 36.6 meters in breadth, 22.5 meters in depth, and has a capacity of 99,000 m3, making it the largest of its kind globally in terms of loading capacity.

Equipped with an ethane-fueled dual-fuel main engine and a shaft-belt generator, the VLEC is designed as a low-carbon vessel that utilizes green alternative energy sources, meets Phase IV of the Energy Efficiency Directive for Ships (EEDI), and is able to reduce sulfide emissions by 99% and carbon oxides by 18%, meeting the most stringent emission requirements while maintaining optimal economics.

It is reported that Shandong Ocean Group owns 16 ethane transportation vessels, ranking first all over the world in terms of capacity.
