DACKS names a 24,188 TEU ultra-large container ship

On February 25, the fourth 24,188 TEU ultra-large container ship, built by Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd.(DACKS) for Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL), was successfully named “OOCL ABU DHABI”.

OOCL ABU DHABI is the fourth of six 24,188 TEU newbuildings delivered to OOCL by DACKS, and the eighth in a series of twelve of the world’s largest environmentally friendly 24,188 TEU vessels ordered by OOCL.

Measuring 399.99 meters in overall length, 61.3 meters in breadth and 33.2 meters in depth, the ultra-large container ship is one of the largest container ships worldwide in terms of scale and number of containers.

Compared with similar vessels, OOCL ABU DHABI has implemented low resistance line optimization, adopted self-developed intelligent safety management system for the whole life cycle of the hull structure and double outer state lashing scheme for containers. Meanwhile, it is also installed with a variety of energy-saving devices such as the newly developed energy-saving bulbous nose bow paddle front deflector, and carries the world’s largest capacity of high-efficiency permanent magnet axle belt generator system.

The container ship has significant advantages such as green energy saving, large loading capacity, high degree of intelligence, etc. The fuel consumption, container capacity, operational rapidity and safety indicators have all reached the world advanced level.

It is reported that this ship type integrates the most advanced scientific and technological achievements, is safe, reliable, energy-saving and environmentally friendly, and has a high degree of intelligence, which fully reflects the design, research and development and construction level of DACKS.

Upon delivery, the container ship will serve OOCL’s Asia-Europe route, which will further optimize OOCL’s fleet structure.
