Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Awarded Order for 2 LPG Carriers

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding, announced on Feb. 22 that it has signed a contract for the construction of two 23,000 cbm dual-fuel liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers with an Asian shipping company.

The total value of the order is about 172.4 billion won (about $129 million) and is expected to be delivered in October 2026. The new LPG carriers will be built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan.

Together with the latest orders, HD KSOE has taken orders for 42 new vessels worth about $4.9 billion this year, achieving 36.3% of its annual order target of $13.5 billion.

Also this week, HD KSOE signed a contract for the construction of two 91,000 cbm VLACs with Greece’s shipping company Evalend Shipping. The total value of the order is about 322.8 billion won (about $242 million) and is expected to be delivered in February 2027. The new VLACs will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
