Dalian Shipbuilding Completes delivery and inspection work of segmental integrity for first 175,000 m3 LNG carrier

Recently, CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding completed the delivery and inspection work of segmental integrity for the first 175,000 m3 LNG carrier.

It is reported that the LNG carrier is built for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES). With an overall length of 295 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters, a depth of 26.2 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, a design service speed of 19.5 knots, and a cargo hold capacity of 175,000 m3, it is capable of docking at most of the world’s large-scale LNG terminals, and has excellent portability and ship-to-shore compatibility.

The 175,000 m3 LNG carrier is equipped with the latest type of LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engine with integrated ICER system, and both fuel oil and gas modes meet the highest emission standards of the IMO. Moreover, by adopting a new double stern fin line type with air lubrication system, it further improves the hydrodynamic performance and enhances the safety redundancy of the propulsion system.

The liquid cargo tanks are equipped with the GTT Mark III Flex cargo containment system, with a daily evaporation rate as low as 0.085%. Meanwhile, it is equipped with a re-liquefaction unit for flexible and efficient handling of LNG evaporated gas.

It is worth mentioning that the construction of this 175,000 m3 LNG carrier series marks Dalian shipbuilding’s formal entry into the field of large LNG carrier construction.
