On February 18, Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited made an announcement of “Major Transaction to Acquire Four Vessels”.
The announcement disclosed that Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited, through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Seacon Shipping, entered into a contract for the construction of four 18,500DWT tankers/chemical tankers with Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding. The series has a unit price of $32.3 million and a total contract value of $129 million.
The first vessel in the series is scheduled to be delivered on July 31, 2025 and the fourth vessel is scheduled to be delivered on May 31, 2026, according to the announcement.
Seacon Shipping said the acquisition of the vessels is in line with the Group’s strategy to continue to optimize its fleet by phasing out its obsolete vessels and replacing them with newer vessels as well as expanding the Group’s fleet.
