Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding Delivers First 29,800DWT Great Lakes Self-unloading Bulk Carrier

On February 18th, Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, delivered 29,800DWT Great Lakes self-unloading bulk carrier “ALGOMA BEAR”. ALGOMA BEAR is flying Canadian flag and owned by ALGOMA of Canada.

“ALGOMA BEAR” is the first self-unloading bulk carrier built by Yangzi Mitsui. The bulk carrier adopts single engine, single propeller and double rudder design, and is equipped with closed desulfurization tower, wear-resistant and low resistance paint, energy consumption monitoring system, and FuelOpt fuel-saving system, etc.

The ship can meet the special requirements of unmanned cabin and Great Lakes navigation, featuring flexible maneuvering, energy saving and environmental protection, high degree of automation and convenient cargo unloading. It has a length of 225.53 meters, a width of 23.77 meters, a depth of 14.25 meters, a design draft of 8.15 meters, and is classed by LR.

It is understood that the ship was started construction on December 6, 2022, and delivered on February 6, 2024, taking 14 months to successfully complete.
