COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Secures Another Order for Shuttle Tankers

Recently, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co.,Ltd. signed the construction contract of 3+1 154,000 DWT shuttle tankers with Norway’s KNOT formally.

It is said that this series of shuttle tankers are innovatively researched and developed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Design & Research Institute, and have completely independent intellectual property rights. The 154,000 DWT shuttle tanker has an overall length of 279 metres, a beam of 48 metres, a depth of 23.8 metres, a design draught of 16 metres, and is classed by DNV. Equipped with DP2 power positioning control system and bow loading system, it is capable of loading and unloading cargoes and oils under various complicated and harsh sea conditions. Meanwhile, it meets Tier3 emission standard, and the fuel consumption of the main engine can be reduced by 10 % with the same cargo capacity and speed, which significantly improves the economic and social benefits.

Since the first cooperation with KNOT on the construction of shuttle tankers in 2012, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) has successively undertaken orders for a series of 11 shuttle tankers from the company, and the first five unites have been successfully delivered.
