On 3 February, the jack-up drilling rig “Haiyang Shiyou 947” set sail from Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co,.Ltd, which will travel to Bohai Bay for operations.
The “Haiyang Shiyou 947” is the third platform delivered to China Oilfield Services Co.,Ltd.(COSL) after “Haiyang Shiyou 945” and “Haiyang Shiyou”.
It is understood that COSL announced on September 19, 2023 that the company’s two wholly-owned subsidiaries, have entered into platform sale and purchase contracts with Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore respectively, intending to purchase four JU2000E jack-up drilling rigs with their own funds, with a total contract price of RMB 3,251.6 million (approx. US$452 million).
On 19th October 2023, Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore delivered the first platform “Haiyang Shiyou 945” under this contract, only 30 days after the contract has been signed. Formerly known as “West Titan”, “Haiyang Shiyou 945” adopts the JU2000E design of the US F&G Company. It has a length of 70.36 metres, a width of 76.00 metres, a depth of 9.45 metres, an overall length of 55.60 metres for the cantilever beam, an overall length of 166.98 metres for the piling legs, a maximum operating depth of 122 metres, which allows it to drill in most of the world’s oceans, and it has been classified by ABS .
The second platform “Haiyang Shiyou 946” completed its first drilling on 17 January this year. The platform also adopts F&G’s JU2000E design, with a maximum operating water depth of 122 metres and a maximum drilling depth of 10,668 metres, which allows it to carry out drilling operations in most of the world’s sea areas, and it was classified by CCS. It is reported that the platform has completed the testing and acceptance of 642 sets of equipment, and a total of 381 rectification items have been sorted out.
