SES-Tech awarded contract for two shaft generator systems on 17,999 DWT asphalt vessels

CSSC Silent Electric System (Wuxi) Technology Co.,Ltd. (SES-Tech) has successfully won the contract for the supply of shaft generator systems on 2 17,999 DWT asphalt vessels.

It is learnt that the two vessels are financed by the overseas owner Rubis Asphalt Middle East, designed by Shanghai Fukai Marine Design Co Ltd, built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng Co., Ltd. The shaft generator system will be supplied by SES-Tech and the system will be designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with RINA’s standards.

With a length of 149.9m, a width of 22.8m, a depth of 12.1m and a design draught of 9.35m, the vessel is equipped with SES-Tech’s S-Shaft shaft motor + inverter shaft power generation solution, with a shaft power of 630kW. It can output constant-frequency and constant-voltage, stable-quality power supply, and can generate power alone or in parallel with ship auxiliary generator sets, which is energy-saving and environmentally friendly as well as highly economical.

The owner, Rubis, was founded in 1990 and is described as an independent French oil operator. The two vessels will sail in Africa, adding to Rubis’ capacity in Africa.
