Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), was again awarded for its 82,000 dwt Kamsarmaxes bulk carriers.
Greek bulk carrier shipping company W Marine has signed a contract with Chengxi Shipyard for the construction of two 82,000 dwt Kamsarmaxes bulk carriers, according to Trade Winds News on Wednesday (31 January). This is W Marine’s first newbuilding order in nearly 20 years aiming to further strengthen its business by advancing its expansion and renewal strategy.
The new bulk carriers ordered are powered by conventional fuels and are compliant with the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) NOx-Tier III Code and EEDI Stage III requirements, the sources said. Deliveries are expected to take place in September and November 2026. Further details about the order have not been disclosed.
Founded in 2003 by Yiannis Sarantitis, W Marine is understood to have a fleet of 16 bulk carriers with an average age of 11 years. Since its foundation over 20 years, W Marine has been focusing on the secondhand market and has not been active in the newbuilding market. Just a few weeks ago, the company finished a deal for a second-hand vessel.
