On January 31st, the world’s first 13,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel-powered large container ship No. 2 built by CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, for France’s Duffy Maritime Group, was formally named “CMA CGM BUZIOS”. On January 29, this series of No. 5 container ship launched four days ahead of schedule.
Designed by Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC), the ship features flexible container loading, leading technology, energy-saving and environmental protection, and is the latest generation of green, energy-efficient and energy-saving container ship in the world. With a total length of 336 meters, a beam of 51 meters and a depth of 26.8 meters, the ship is designed for a service speed of 21 knots and a maximum capacity of 13,200 TEUs.
The ship adopts LNG dual-fuel power system, equipped with one LNG liquid cargo tank of 14,000 m³ Mark Ⅲ liquid cargo containment system, powered by CSSC’s own brand CMD-WinGD9X9DF-2.0 main engine, and features a new generation of global Intelligent Controlled Exhaust Recirculation (ICER) system, which reduces methane escape by 50% and greenhouse gas emissions by more than 28% in the gas mode.
This type of ship can save the fuel consumption by 2% to 4% during operation by installing a huge wind flow guide at the bow of the ship. Meanwhile, an energy-saving deflector is also installed on the transom, which can improve propeller propulsion efficiency, reduce energy consumption by about 1.5%, and significantly reduce CO2 gas emissions.
