Beihai Shipbuilding Signs Contract for First New Energy Conversion Project

On January 30th, CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and shipping giant CMA CGM Group held a signing ceremony for a methanol dual-fuel conversion project for containers. It marks a new milestone in the cooperation between the two parties and demonstrates a strong commitment to green maritime initiatives.

It is understood that CMA CGM Group, as a leading shipping company with 257 routes across 420 ports around the world, plays a key role in the stability and development of the global logistics supply chain.

Beihai Shipbuilding has won wide recognition for its outstanding achievements in the design and development of new energy and green power ships, as well as its leading position in the global large ship conversion market.

Based on the resonance of the concepts and goals of sustainable for shipping development between the two parties, this cooperation opens up a new era for the transformation of green shipping.

Since 2018, CMA CGM Group has repeatedly cooperated with Beihai Shipbuilding. Beihai Shipbuilding has successfully delivered more than 40 ships for docking and repair projects such as containers lengthening and conversion projects, new and hybrid scrubber tower conversion projects, new and ballast water treatment devices and propeller replacement. Especially in 2021, the two sides signed a contract for the construction of 10 5,500 TEU containers, further deepening the new shipbuilding partnership.
