On Thursday, January 25, we delivered the 181,000-car weight tons-type Bulk Carriers “CAPE PLEASURE” built in Saijo Shipyard. This ship will be the world’s first new ship to use Kobenable Steel, a low-CO2 blast furnace steel product developed by Kobe Steel Co., Ltd.
CAPE PLEASURE is 291.96 meters in length, 45.00 meters in breadth and has a speed of approximately 14.45 knots with a 6S70ME-C10.5 main engine, classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) and flying the Panamanian flag.
This is a cape-sized bulk cargo ship that is the largest ship type of 9 hold / 9 hatch that is subject to the Common Structural Rules (CSR BC &OT). In order to ensure that the structure is suitable for loading solid cargoes such as iron ore and coal, the top side tank and a hopper tank are provided for each cargo. In addition, in order to cope with the loading and transport of iron ore, which is the main cargo, it is designed to be able to stack high-gravity cargo (3.0 t / m3) can be stacked separately.
Kobenable Premier is the first ship in the world to use Kobenable Premier, a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions from steel production of Kobenable Steel, a low CO2 blast furnace steel product commercialized by Kobe Steel Co., Ltd. (Kobenable Premier), a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions during the construction of ships.
In addition, in order to comply with the third NOx emission regulations to prevent air pollution, the main unit is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) and a select catalyst reduction device (SCR) in power generation facilities. In addition, we are working to improve our performance and environmental performance by applying outer hull coatings to reduce friction with seawater. In addition, it is equipped with a ballast water treatment device as well as an inventrilists based on the Ship Recycling Treaty.
Imabari Shipbuilding will promote CO2 emissions reduction through the construction of ships and work toward the realization of a sustainable society and decarbonized society as soon as possible.
