On January 24th, CMA CGM FIORDLAND, a 5,800 TEU container built by Imabari Shipbuilding for France’s CMA CGM Group, was officially delivered.
The container has an overall length of 254.94 meters, a beam of 40.00 meters, a speed of about 21.5 knots, is equipped with a 6G80ME-C10.6 main engine, with a capacity of 5,920 standard containers, is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and is flying the Liberian flag.
The container can carry a large number of refrigerated containers in the hold and on deck, as well as a wide range of dangerous goods covered by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. It is also equipped with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Ballast Water Treatment to meet Tier III NOx regulations and prevent air pollution.
In addition, the container’s propulsion performance and environmental performance have been improved through the installation of energy-saving add-ons near the propellers and the use of a hull coating that reduces friction with seawater.
