Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Signs 4 New Ships Entering Medium-sized Container Ship Market

On January 23rd, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, signed a contract for four 4,300 TEU container ships with Thailand’s Regional Container Lines (RCL).

It is reported that RCL is a traditional liner shipping company with a long history in Asia, providing liner services and container feeder services mainly in East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Peninsula. RCL’s fleet now operates 34 container vessels, including 29 owned vessels and 5 chartered-in vessels. The successful signing of this project will support RCL’s future business expansion as well as boost the replacement of its aged vessels.

Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding is the largest shipbuilding ship enterprise in South China, with rich experience in shipbuilding and repairing, and the quality of its products is recognized by shipowners all over the world. Among them, feeder container ships, commercial cargo ships, dredgers, offshore engineering vessels and research vessels are the representative products of the enterprise’s civil product construction segment.

Now, Huangpu Wenchong has formed a batch production line of feeder container ships with specifications of 1,100 TEU, 1,500 TEU, 1,900 TEU, 2,700 TEU, 3,000 TEU and 3,400 TEU, etc., and the independently-designed product “Honghu” feeder container ships (1,900 TEUs and 3,000 TEUs) released on the basis of the construction experience has gained the favor of the market.

It is understood that this ship type is the largest container ship undertaken by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding at present, marking that Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has stepped up a new level in the field of container construction.
