Maran Tankers lines up shuttle tanker newbuilds in DH Shipbuilding

MARAN Tankers, a tanker company of Greece’s Angelicoussis Shipping Group, is expanding its newbuilding order book by ordering three shuttle tankers from a South Korean shipyard.

According to the news, MARAN Tankers will order three 158,000 dwt shuttle tankers from South Korea’s DH Shipbuilding (formerly known as Daehan Shipbuilding), with a total order value of US$ 390 million (roughly CNY 2.798 billion). The tankers are expected to be delivered in 2027, when they will be under long-term charter by Brazilian state-controlled energy giant Petrobras.

In April 2023, Maran Tankers signed an order with China’s New Times Shipbuilding for 4+4 155,500 DWT liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel Suezmax tankers in order to drive the renewal of its tanker fleet and to meet decarbonization targets. The 4 optional units came into force in August of the same year. The first four new tankers will be delivered in 2026, with another four scheduled for delivery in the first and second quarters of 2027.

It is reported that MARAN Tankers was established in 1992 and now has a fleet of 55 vessels with a total capacity of 16,235,549 DWT and an average age of 7.8 years.
