HD Hyundai Marine Solutions to Develop Cyber Resilience of Ships

HD Hyundai Marine Solution, a comprehensive solution provider for the maritime industry, is further developing its marine cyber security solutions by collaborating with partners in various specialized fields.

HD Hyundai Marine Solutions announced on January 22 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AhnLab, a South Korean integrated security company, and Paessler AG, a global provider of network monitoring solutions, for the parties to collaborate on the development of marine cybersecurity solutions and services.

Previously, the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) mandated that all newbuilding contracts signed after July 2024 must ensure cyber resilience to minimize accidents due to disruptions or damage to on-board operating technologies and systems and to safeguard the safe operation of ships.

In recent years, as various systems have been integrated and digitized, the threat of external cyber-attacks is increasing. The importance of cybersecurity solutions for ships must be emphasized for autonomous and remote navigation.

Accordingly, HD Hyundai Marine Solutions launched Hi-Secure, a brand of marine cybersecurity solutions compliant with the International Association of Classification Societies’ Cyber Resilience (UR E26) in 2023 for an under-construction LNG FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit).

An official of HD Hyundai Marine Solution said, “We plan to expand our presence in the ship cybersecurity market by providing more reliable security solutions through cooperation with Anlab Korea and Fassler Germany, the world’s top security companies.”
