Wuhu Shipyard held a naming ceremony for the second eco-friendly multipurpose vessel

On January 22, Wuhu Shipyard held a naming ceremony for the second 7800 DWT new eco-friendly multipurpose (MPP) “Olivia” built for Finland-based shipping company Langh Ship.

It is reported that the two sides signed a contract for the construction of three 7,800 DWT MPP vessels in 2021, and the first vessel “Lovisa” was completed and delivered in November 2023, and arrived in Europe and put into operation in early January 2024.

Designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), this series of vessels has an overall length of 119.90 meters, a beam of 16.50 meters and a depth of 10.4 meters. Equipped with one Wartsila 9L34 dual-fuel main engine, the vessel meets the NOx emission III requirement in LNG mode, and has adjustable pitch propulsion.

Two main generators are installed with SCR system to meet the requirement of NOx emission III, and one inverter shaft generator can meet the demand of electricity under sailing condition to reduce energy consumption. The vessel is equipped with two cargo holds, one large and one small, of which the large cargo hold is about 54 meters long, with moving transverse bulkheads, suitable for three positions to meet the requirements of flexible loading.

As a MPP vessel with very high requirements for cargo hold loading, the cargo hold suitability and loading flexibility are fully considered. The design of lift-off hatch cover can meet the requirements of 90 meters long and 15 meters wide large pieces transportation. The design and application of the second deck ensures the fast loading and unloading of steel coils and the utilization of the cabin capacity to the maximum extent, which has the remarkable features of economy, environmental protection and low carbon.
