On January 8, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd(SWS), a subsidiary of CSSC, grandly named the last vessel in the series of 114,000 dwt Aframax product tankers, “ELYTIS”. It was constructed for Greece’s Enesel S.A. and was deliverd on the following day (January 9th).
“ELYTIS” is the latest generation Aframax tanker independently developed and designed by SWS. The tanker has an overall length of 249.95 meters, a beam of 44 meters, a depth of 21.2 meters, a design draft of 13.5 meters and a design speed of 14.5 knots. The cargo hold can carry more than 800,000 barrels of refined oil or crude oil products.
This series of vessels has greatly improved the energy efficiency level of the whole vessel through a number of measures such as comprehensive hydrodynamic performance optimization, configuration of hydrodynamic energy-saving conduits and vortex fins, and optimization of main engine selection.
The EEDI indicators have reached the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III by 2025 in advance. Meanwhile, the NOx emission meets the Tier III requirement and the SOx emission meets the 0.1% requirement, which makes the tanker an environmentally friendly, energy-saving, safe and economical green ship type.
It is reported that the first tanker of this series “KAVAFIS” was delivered in April 2023.
