CMJL (Weihai) starts construction of a methanol dual-fuel ro-ro vessel

On January 5, China Merchants Jingling Shipyard (Weihai) Co. Ltd. CMJL (Weihai) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first methanol dual-fuel ro-ro vessel (W0320) built for Stena.

W0320 has an overall length of 147.0 meters, a beam of 26.3 meters, a design draft of 5.2 meters and a service speed of 16.5 knots. The ship can carry 12 passengers and 26 crew members. The length of the line is 2,848 meters, which is used for loading all kinds of vehicles, such as cars and trucks, and it can maximize the cargo capacity, which is 80% higher than that of the existing ship.

The vessel is classed by DNV and meets the requirements of new symbols such as Shore Power, Battery(Power), LFL fueled, Ammonia (D, MEc). It is powered by methanol dual-fuel engines, which can run on both methanol and diesel fuel.

Meanwhile, it is equipped with battery propulsion and shore power, as well as advanced ship automation system and advanced ship maneuvering system, which can meet the increasingly stringent requirements of the marine environment and port waterways, and is a typical representative of the new generation of Ro-Ro vessels in terms of safety, comfort, greenness and environmental protection.

The vessel will be delivered in June 2025 and will be operated on the Belfast-Hersham route.
