Huanghai Shipbuilding signed a contract for four 5,400HP pure electric harbor tugs

On January 4, Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. signed a shipbuilding contract for four 5,400HP pure electric harbor tugs with Tianjin Xinjincheng Shipping Technology Service Co.

This vessel is a new generation of green tug. It measures 40 meters in overall length, 10.8 meters in breadth, 4.8 meters in depth, 3.6 meters in design draft, with towing capacity (forward towing) ≥ 65t, towing capacity (reverse towing) ≥ 60t, and service speed of 13 knots.

The vessel is equipped with 2 sets of inverter motor drive, 360 degree full rotation with guide tube fixed pitch rudder propeller. The power battery consists of 8 sets of lithium iron phosphate batteries, with a total capacity of about 6709kWh, and the reserved battery capacity can be expanded to 8000kWh. This tug is mainly used for assisting the ships in and out of ports to dock and backing up.

Founded in 1944, Huanghai Shipbuilding covers an area of 800,000 square meters and has national Class A design qualification and Class A construction qualification. It is worth mentioning that this order marks Huanghai Shipbuilding’s entry into the field of tankers.
