X-Press Feeders, Singapore-headquartered independent common carrier, has unveiled how the first of 14 methanol dual fuel ships looks like, with plans to create a green feeder network in the Baltic.
The first dual-fuel vessel, Eco Maestro, built by New Dayang Shipbuilding is 1,200 TEU in capacity with a length overall of 148 m.
On November 29, 2021, X-Press Feeders signed contracts for the construction of 16 1,170 TEU feeder containerships with two Chinese shipyards.
Two Chinese shipyards are New Dayang Shipbuilding and Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding, each of which has received orders for eight container ships. The first of these new vessels will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the last by the end of 2024.
All the new vessels are powered by dual-fuel engines, which can run on regular fuel or methanol, and have a highly fuel-efficient design.

All the 14 such dual-fuel ships will be in full deployment by Q3 2026, it added.
