CIMC Bluewater Receives DNV’s AIP Certificate for Methanol Fuel Supply System

Recently, at Marintec China 2023, CIMC Bluewater Technology Development (Guangdong) Co., Ltd.(CIMC Bluewater), a subsidiary of CIMC Enrico, has obtained the Approval-in-Principle (AIP) Certificate for Methanol Fuel Supply System issued by DNV. This system is one of the core key equipments for green methanol ship power vessels, which provides a strong guarantee for promoting the clean and low-carbon development in the shipping field and realizing the green and low-carbon transformation of ship power.

Green methanol can be obtained in a variety of ways, including through biomass energy and green hydrogen capture of carbon dioxide. Compared with other clean energy sources, green methanol has good economy, safety and accessibility, and is globally recognized as one of the important paths to carbon neutrality.

With the background of green upgrading of global shipping, green methanol as marine fuel is widely favored by the global shipping market. By using green methanol as fuel, ships can effectively help energy saving and emission reduction in shipping and promote green transformation of the shipping industry. And ship methanol fuel supply system is the key equipment to provide continuous and stable fuel supply for methanol-fueled engines.

CIMC Bluewater is continuously committed to providing green and intelligent power system solutions for power vessels, and has developed its business layout in the field of natural gas, methanol, hydrogen and ammonia and other clean energy fuel applications. This AIP certificate from DNV certifies that CIMC Bluewater has the feasibility to provide methanol fuel supply system and technology.
