On Dec. 5, RINA granted the certificate of Approval in Principle for the design of 91,000DWT BULK CARRIER (ICE CLASS IA), developed by Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC), during Marintec China time.
Luigi MATTERA, Operations Director of RINA China, presented the certificate on behalf of RINA.
The vessel with main dimensions as: Length overall 249.90m, Breadth Moulded 34.00m, Depth moulded 21.00m, Draught Scantling 15.00m.
The vessel was designed with 7 cargo holds, which were dedicated for bulk cargo, i.e. coal, ore and grains. The vessel was granted as RINA Ice-IA certificate, which meaning it can navigation in severe ice condition. The success of the ship’s development marks a significant forwarding in the development of the MARIC’s ice class ship type.
