GSI Delivered the 2nd Vessel of the First Dual-Fuel PCTC Project in GBA

On November 27, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), delivered the 7,000 unit Post-Panamax LNG-PCTC “WOLFSBURG”. This is the second vessel delivered under the first dual-fuel PCTC project constructed in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

With an overall length of 200 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.6 meters and a design speed of 19 knots, the vessel has a total of 13 decks and can carry about 7,000 vehicles, two of which can carry hydrogen-fueled vehicles. The ship is designed with LNG/fuel oil dual-fuel propulsion system, and the energy efficiency operation index (EEDI) meets the latest phase III requirements of the IMO, making it an energy-saving, environmental protection and high-efficiency car carrier.

By summarizing the experience of building the first ship, GSI has achieved new breakthroughs and improvements in the process of designing and building the “WOLFSBURG”.

During the design process, “zero” modification of LNG single and double-wall pipe layout was realized, and the standardization of roll-on/roll-off equipment was initiated, which further improved the design efficiency.

Also, GSI has researched and formulated “Thin Plate Construction Quality Improvement Program 2.0”. And the efficient construction system of craft work method has been gradually improved, realizing a significant shortening of the cycle of power generation motor vehicle, LNG pipeline installation and debugging and sea trial in the docking stage, and laying a good foundation for the subsequent construction of PCTC.
