Recently, CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has started the construction of the first out of four new deal-fuel 23,000 TEU container ship for CMA CGM in its Changxing Shipbuilding.

The vessel has a total length of 399 meters, a beam of 61.3 meters, a depth of 33.5 meters and a design draft of 14.5 meters. This type of ship can carry 220,000 tons of cargo, loaded with 23,872 TEU containers at a time, can carry 2,200 standard refrigerated containers, the maximum number of stacking layers up to 24, equivalent to the height of a 22-story building, is a veritable sea “giant” and “hulk! It is a real sea “giant” and “hulk”.

It is said that the containership incorporates a number of energy efficiency measures, including WinGD’s dual-fuel engines and GTT’s 18,600-cbm fuel tank. Finnish technology group Wärtsilä will supply the LNG fuel gas supply (FGSS) systems for the boxship quartet.

Wärtsilä’s full scope of supply includes the system engineering, a dedicated material package, the boil-off gas compressor (BOGC) skid delivery, as well as the supervision, commissioning, and testing of the FGS systems.

This type of vessel is a model of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s high-end marine equipment, and its high-end, intelligent and green features are highly recognized by users and the international shipbuilding industry, demonstrating Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s leading position in the international shipbuilding field.
