Recently,Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), delivered one 16,000 TEU container vessel to Minsheng Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (Minsheng Leasing). The new vessel is the first 16,000TEU container vessel and also the biggest container vessel for Minsheng Leasing and will be on a long-term bareboat charter to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
Ms. Deng Yi, Assistant President of Minsheng Leasing, as the godmother, named the vessel “MSC CANDIDA” and performed the traditional cutting of the rope for the new ship.
“MSC Candida” is the new generation of Panama’s largest container ship. The ship adopts a new design concept of “safety, economy and environmental protection” and is equipped with a ship energy efficiency management system, which integrates a number of energy-saving measures suitable for real ship operation and is highly operable in real operation.
Through the optimization of the ship’s profile and the adoption of high-efficiency oar and rudder and pre-oar energy-saving devices, the ship’s EEDI is 57% lower than the baseline. It also adopts energy-saving technologies such as an air lubrication system and a 4 MW shaft generator, which fundamentally reduces fuel consumption and improves economic efficiency, and facilitates the shipowner to achieve better energy-saving results while operating and managing the ship, maximizing energy efficiency and economy.
The high-quality delivery of this vessel has received great praise from Minsheng Leasing and MSC. It has reinforced the collaborative efforts between CSTC, DSIC, Minsheng Leasing, and MSC, further solidifying CSSC’s leading position in the arena of the construction of large container ship.
