Yangzijiang’s first LNG dual-fuel 7,000TEU container ship delivered

On October 27, the delivery and signing ceremony was held for ZIM AMBER, the first LNG dual-fuel 7,000 TEU container ship built by New Yangzi Shipbuilding under Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, for the owner SEASPAN.

On the next day, ZIM AMBER was delivered and put into operation by ZIM, with its maiden voyage to Haiphong Port, the largest port in northern Vietnam.

The LNG dual-fuel 7000TEU container ship is an iconic ship type of Yangzijiang’s comprehensive transformation and construction of green new energy ships. It is the first dual-fuel medium-sized container ship equipped with B-type fuel tanks in China. The  containers are 272m in length overall, 42.8m in breadth, 24.6m in depth, and are capable of carrying 8,242 nominal spaces at a structural draught of 15m. The main engine, generator and boiler are all dual-fueled with fuel oil and LNG, which greatly reduces carbon-based emissions, and the use of EGR and SCR equipment meets the requirements of Tier III, which is more environmentally friendly. The FGSS system carried on this vessel is the first joint design by Yangzijiang and has independent intellectual property rights.

This project includes a total of 15 series ships, all of which are built by New Yangzi Shipbuilding. On October 26, Yangzijiang, SEASPAN and ZIM held a grand christening ceremony for the first batch of three sister ships at New Yangzi Shipbuilding.
