MOL Opens Office in Washington, D.C.

The Japanese shipping conglomerate Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has announced that it will open a new office in Washington, D.C., through its U.S. subsidiary, MOL (Americas) LLC.

As a leading multimodal shipping group company with the world’s second-largest fleet, we provide comprehensive logistics solutions with a strong focus on international shipping. As global challenges continue to evolve-ranging from geopolitical uncertainties and stricter environmental regulations to increasingly intricate supply chains-strengthening cooperation with governments and international organizations has become more crucial than ever.

MOL strives to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and more effectively serve customers not only in the U.S. but also on a global scale through information exchange and advocacy. Opening the new office in Washington, D.C., the center of global policymaking, facilitates the group’s outreach to federal agencies, congress, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and international organizations and embassies that serve as venues for multilateral consultations.

It is reported that since Trump returned to power on January 20, the international shipping market has become more complicated through tariff wars, additional port fees for Chinese-built ships, withdrawal from the International Maritime Organization, and ownership claims to the Panama Canal and Greenland. Mitsui OSK Lines’ new office in Washington is most likely a response to the relevant policies of the US government.
