Recently, the world’s first 8S50ME-C9.7-GI-HPSCR dual-fuel engine was successfully delivered at the Zhenjiang plant of Hudong Heavy Machinery, a subsidiary of CSSC Power (Group) Corporation Ltd. (CPGC). The engine will be installed on the 4200 CEU PCTC built by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding for Neptune Lines, marking a key breakthrough in China’s 500mm bore high-pressure LNG dual-fuel engine field.
The 8S50ME-C9.7-GI-HPSCR dual-fuel engine has a single-cylinder power of up to 1,375kw, and is designed to match with a large-diameter variable propeller for higher propulsion efficiency.
The gas system adopts MAN ES’s MK2 design, with a gas component design pressure of 330 bar. The pilot oil profile optimization technology is used to make the combustion in the cylinder softer. The fuel economy advantage is more significant while taking emissions into consideration. The engine is equipped with CPGC’s self-developed HPSCR (High Pressure Selective Catalytic Reduction) system to meet IMO Tier III emission requirements.
It is reported that this is the 8th dual-fuel model delivered by Hudong Heavy Machinery. The delivery of this dual-fuel main engine further broadens the spectrum of dual-fuel models of CPGC.
