Jiangnan Shipyard Secures Breakthrough LNG Bunkering Vessel Order for Shanghai Port Group

On April 22, Jiangnan Shipyard of China State Shipbuilding Corporation successfully won the bid for the newbuilding project of a 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel for Shanghai International Port Group Energy (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “SIPG Energy”), securing the order for the LNG bunkering vessel.

The 20,000m³ LNG bunkering vessel that won the bid this time uses three twin-ear C-type tanks, equipped with full-rotating electric propulsion system, bow thruster, GCU, high-load compressor, intelligent ship, etc. It can meet the requirements of NOx Tier III, achieve near-zero SOx emissions, and reduce CO₂ greenhouse gases by about 20%.

The vessel is suitable for ship-to-ship bunkering and transfer, ship-to-shore replenishment and reverse transfer, BOG processing, operation volume trade measurement and calorific value analysis of LNG-powered vessels of various types, and can provide inerting, cold tank and gas testing services for LNG-powered vessels.

According to the construction program, the vessel is scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2027.

It is understood that Jiangnan Shipyard has delivered 51 C-type tank gas carriers and has accumulated rich experience and strength in the design and construction of C-type tank gas carriers. The winning of this project marks the return of Jiangnan Shipyard to the field of C-type tank gas carriers after 2 years, and its entry into the market of LNG bunkering vessels.
