On April 21, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a naming and delivery ceremony for the 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) “Hanjiangkou” built for SPDB Financial Leasing.
“Hanjiangkou” was completed and delivered four months ahead of the contract period, further consolidating GSI’s market position in the field of car carrier construction. After the PCTC is delivered, the first voyage will load domestic cars from Shanghai to Chile, Peru, Guatemala and other countries.
The vessel is the final of three 7,000CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs built by GSI for SPDB Financial Leasing and will be operated by Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping, a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers.
The PCTC is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide, with a design draft of 8.6 meters and a service speed of 19 knots. It has a total of 12 vehicle decks, including 8 fixed vehicle decks and 4 elevatable decks, which can be used to transport cars, vans, trailers loaded with freight containers and trucks. All 12 car decks of the PCTC can carry fuel vehicles and lithium battery vehicles, and new energy vehicles fueled by hydrogen and natural gas can be transported on the 11th and 12th decks.
The PCTC is equipped with an LNG dual-fuel system and adopts various energy-saving measures such as energy-saving devices and drag-reducing and anti-fouling paints. It is a green, intelligent, environmentally friendly and efficient car transport vessel.
