Recently, Japan Marine United (JMU) delivered the 158,954 dwt environmentally friendly Suezmax tanker “Aesop” to Ambroisie Shipping.
JMU’s Tsu shipyard has accumulated a wealth of experience in building Suezmax tankers, and is able to create the most optimized vessel type according to the access conditions of major ports around the world and the needs of the current mainstream market. This vessel is the first of JMU’s new Suezmax tankers to be built, which will further improve fuel efficiency compared to previously built vessels.
“AESOP” is 274.30 meters long, 48.00 meters wide, 23.15 meters deep, with a gross tonnage of 83,175 tons, a deadweight of 158,954 tons, a speed of 14.5 knots. And the main engine is a Mitsui MAN-B&W 7S60ME-C10.6-EGRBP engine. It has a capacity of 28 people, is DNV-classified, and flies the Bahamas flag.
JMU has developed an optimal vessel model that pursues high efficiency through the latest analysis technology. It has also installed and optimized the company’s independently developed energy-saving devices “Super Stream Duct®”, “SURF-BULB®” and “ALV-Fin®”, and adopted high-efficiency propellers, which have greatly improved propulsion performance and significantly reduced fuel consumption compared to traditional vessel models.
The vessel not only improves its performance in still water, but also enhances its navigational performance in real waters by applying “Ax-Bow®” technology to reduce bow resistance in waves and adopting a low wind pressure living area design that meets the new noise regulations.
In addition, the vessel is equipped with electronically controlled engines, desulphurization and ballast water treatment devices, and has a list of hazardous substances, complying with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Stage III and NOx Tier III emission standards, etc., which are in full compliance with environmental regulations. Low friction coatings are used on the exterior panels, and the cargo oil tanks and ballast tanks are coated in accordance with IMO PSPC to further enhance the anti-corrosion performance.
