On April 16, after several days of land transportation and on-site assembly, China’s first all-electric drive modular cutter suction dredger “Junlan” built by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) for China Communications construction company Tianjin Dredging successfully hit the water at Guanting Reservoir in Beijing.
Next, “Junlan” dredger will will provide strong support for the subsequent ecological and environmental protection dredging of Guanting Reservoir, the first large reservoir established after the founding of New China.
The “Junlan” has an overall length of 67 meters, a width of 11.95 meters, and a maximum dredging depth of 25 meters. It boasts a total installed power of 4,520 kilowatts, with a cutter power of 600 kilowatts and a standard dredging capacity of 2,200 cubic meters per hour. The vessel is equipped with advanced systems, including a highly efficient and wear-resistant dredge pump, an environmentally friendly cutter, and an intelligent monitoring system. Notably, the submersible dredge pump, onboard dredge pump, and cutter are all driven by variable frequency electric power. Its comprehensive performance ranks among the best in its class domestically.
“Junlan” was independently developed, designed, and constructed in China. The overall design reflects the concepts of “green, efficient, intelligent, and environmentally friendly,” and it has completely independent intellectual property rights.
As a modularly designed dredging engineering vessel, all components of “Junlan” are weighted and dimensioned to meet the requirements for onshore transportation. They can be quickly assembled and disassembled, allowing transportation by truck or railway to inland rivers, lakes, or remote coastal areas. This breakthrough eliminates the reliance of traditional large dredgers on channel depth, aligning with the current trends and requirements of the green circular economy.
It is reported that the vessel provides advanced technology and equipment support for the comprehensive management of China’s water environment, and is of great significance in promoting the ecological intelligence, greening and synergistic management of rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and realizing the ecological sustainable development of rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
