Beihai Shipbuilding Welcomes Several Advances in the Construction of 210,000 DWT Bulk Carriers

On April 15, Beihai Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully launched two 210,000 DWT bulk carriers: an LNG dual-fuel vessel for Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and an ammonia-ready bulk carrier for Belgium’s CMB.

CMB’s 210,000 DWT LNG dual – fuel bulk carrier completed the engine room coating in dock. The completion rate of the engine room piping system reached over 90%. The main switchboard was powered on, the steering gear was oiled and operated, the anchor winch was used for anchoring, the boiler was ignited, and the cable winch was operated, etc. CMB’s 210,000 DWT Ammonia – Ready bulk carrier completed the overall coating of the engine room. The steering gear was oiled and operated, the cable winches ran perfectly, the main switchboard was powered on, the engine room lighting was powered on, the engine room ventilation system was running, and the boiler was ignited. Both vessels reached a new high with an over 90% completeness when they were launched.

On the same day, Beihai Shipbuilding held a steei cutting ceremony for two 210,000 DWT bulk carriers built for Belgium’s CMB.

The two vessels will use ammonia dual fuel, with a total design length of 300 meters, a depth of 25.2 meters, a structural draft of 18.4 meters, a service speed of 14.5 knots, and a load capacity of 209,800 tons. The Win GD 6X72DF-A-1.0 dual-fuel engine used offers significant advantages in terms of environmental protection and economy.
