Beihai Shipbuilding Cuts Steel for Winning’s Eco-Friendly VLOC

On April 11, Beihai Shipbuilding, under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a steel cutting ceremony for Winning International Group’s very large ore carrier (VLOC) in the joint plant of the company’s Shipbuilding Area II.

With an overall length of 329.99 meters, a beam of 60 meters, a structural draught of 22 meters and a speed of 13.9 knots, the vessel is of WinningMax type tailor-made by Beihai Shipbuilding for Winning International Group.

The vessel has undergone a new design optimization in terms of overall size, overall layout, line/structure, cabin arrangement, system and equipment, meeting the requirements of Phase III of the Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). Compared with traditional Capesize vessels, the energy consumption per ton-mile can be reduced by nearly 50%, which is in line with Winning’s green and environmentally friendly development concept.

With this vessel type, Beihai Shipbuilding continues to maintain the first position in the global market share of VLOC.
