DACKS Launches A LNG Dual-Fuel 309,000 DWT VLCC

On April 10, Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “DACKS”) held a launching ceremony for the first-built 309,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel very large crude carrier (VLCC).

As DACKS’s first LNG dual-fuel VLCC, the vessel is equipped with advanced dual-fuel main engines, generators and boilers as well as the largest single fuel LNG cryogenic storage tank in China. It can sail 19,000 nautical miles in LNG mode, which is equivalent to sailing 0.88 times around the equator. Meanwhile, the vessel also uses R-407H air conditioning refrigerant and other means to further reduce carbon dioxide emissions, making it a leader among green vessels.

The successful launching of the vessel is a powerful testimony of DACKS in the field of new energy shipbuilding, and it also marks that DACKS’s shipbuilding competitiveness has reached a new level.

As the fourth shipbuilder in the world to build dual-fuel VLCCs, DACKS carries the concept of “greening of the whole life cycle” into every aspect of ship design and construction, continuously improving the company’s core competitiveness, practicing the construction of green veseels, setting a new benchmark for the green transformation of the shipbuilding industry, and injecting new strength into the development of green shipping.
