On April 9, Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, delivered the fifth LNG dual-fuel 16,000TEU container ship “MSC GERMANY” built for shipowner Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
“MSC GERMANY” is the fifth in a series of 12 16,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group for owner MSC.
Like the fourth container ship “MSC ANNAMARIA”, this vessel is equipped with a windshield device, which can effectively reduce the wind resistance of the vessel when traveling, and reduce carbon emissions by reducing fuel consumption, which helps to further realize the green and efficient operation of the vessel.
It is reported that “MSC GERMANY” started construction in early March 2024, laid keel in late August, launched at the end of December and successfully completed the sea trials on March 25, 2025, with all the test results in line with the design standards. MSC held a christening ceremony on April 3, and signed the delivery documents on April 7.
