CIMC SOE Secures Fifth 20,000m³ LNG Bunkering Vessel Order from European Shipowner, Strengthening Market Leadership

On April 10, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd (CIMC SOE) announced that it has recently successfully signed an order for a 20,000m³ LNG bunkering vessel with a European shipowner, which is the fifth vessel of the same type that the shipyard has obtained.

This order is not only the recognition of European customers for CIMC SOE’s capability in designing and building LNG bunkering vessels, but also highlights the trust and strong business adhesion of global shipowners to the company.

It is understood that the 20,000m³ LNG transportation and bunkering vessel has an overall length of 160 meters, a beam of 25 meters and a design speed of 15.5 knots. The vessel is not only equipped with WINGD dual-fuel main engine with iCER technology, but also can be equipped with high-voltage shore power system, which can significantly reduce the pollution and greenhouse gas emissions during the vessel’s life cycle. According to the plan, the LNG carrier bunkering vessel will be delivered by April 2027.

Unlike traditional LNG bunkering vessels, this type of vessel has higher technical requirements. This type of transportation and bunkering vessel has the functions of warehousing, transportation and ship-to-ship bunkering, and can flexibly serve in port bunkering and offshore floating storage.

In addition, in terms of the cargo containment system, the R&D team has conducted in-depth research and optimized the design of the vessel to achieve a lower evaporation rate compared with the same size of vessels in the market, which reduces the operating cost with significant economic and environmental benefits.

According to CIMC SOE, this order further strengthens the shipbuilder’s leading position in the international market for small and medium-sized liquefied gas carriers and bunkering vessels.

In addition, in terms of cargo containment system, CIMC SOE R&D team has conducted in-depth research and optimized the design of the vessel to achieve a lower evaporation rate compared with the same size of vessels in the market, and the operating cost has been reduced, which has significant economic and environmental benefits.
