China Railway Engineering Machinery Research & Design Institute’s Heavy-Duty Modular Transporter Passes FAT

Recently, the heavy-duty modular transporter developed by China Railway Engineering Machinery Research & Design Institute successfully passed the factory acceptance test (FAT).

This equipment will be used for the launching operation of the whole ship in Yichang Shipyards. After the on-site inspection by the expert group and the verification of heavy load test, all the performance indexes are in line with the technical requirements.

It is understood that the modular transporter has technical advantages such as strong carrying capacity, flexible formation, and precise coordinated control. It is suitable for the overall transportation of oversized and overweight workpieces such as large ships and components.

These modular transporter project has a total of 192 axle lines, including 18 sets of power units, 18 sets of four-axle transporter modules and 20 sets of six-axle transporter modules, etc. The maximum load of a modular transporter is about 9,000 tons, and it can realize 8 steering modes, such as diagonal, transverse, center rotation, etc., which can satisfy the launching demand of the largest 7,000-ton ships in the shipyards.

Since the start of the project, China Railway Engineering Machinery Research & Design Institute has strictly controlled the assembly quality and commissioning progress, carried out various tests and verifications, successfully completed the FAT, and successfully carried out the heavy load test demonstration.

China Railway Engineering Machinery Research & Design Institute continues to improve its strategic industrial layout and has successfully built a complete manufacturing and transportation industry chain covering core equipment such as shipbuilding gantry cranes, port gantry cranes, and modular transporters.
