On April 8, Zhejiang Zhonghuaizhou Shipping Technology’s first 400TEU river-sea direct pure electric container ship construction project was officially started in the Nantong manufacturing base of Wuhu Shipyard’s Tri Water New Energy Technology.
It is understood that this 400TEU river-sea direct pure electric container ship is the first of its kind in the country. The construction contract was signed in July last year and the first batch of two ships will be built.
Compared with similar ships, this ship has outstanding highlights in overall design and performance. The total length of this ship is 104.68 meters, the beam is 19 meters, and the designed speed is 20 kilometers per hour.
Its power battery adopts the battery replacement mode, with a battery capacity of up to 20 megawatts (using 10 van power supplies), realizing pure electric navigation from Yangshan Deepwater Port to Taicang Port. It will not only significantly reduce the carbon emissions of this route, but also rely on its efficient power system to greatly improve transportation efficiency and optimize logistics timeliness.
It is worth mentioning that the construction of China’s first 400TEU river-sea direct pure electric container ship is another important measure for Zhejiang Zhonghuaizhou Shipping Technology to actively respond to the national “dual carbon” strategy and promote the green transformation of the shipping industry. It is also the first river-sea direct boutique electric ship project built by Tri Water New Energy Technology “from river to sea”. It will provide valuable R&D and construction experience for the electrification path of river-sea direct ships.
Tri Water New Energy Technology is committed to promoting green and sustainable development in the industry. Currently, the company has successively undertaken the design, development and construction of China’s first new energy ships, including 3,000-ton oil-to-electric bulk carrier, 500FLC, river-sea direct 400TUE container ship.
