As reported by Trade Winds news, Singapore’s Jaldhi Overseas ordered two 40,000 cbm LPG / ammonia carriers from Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in China.
The ships will be delivered in May and August 2027.
Previously, Lepta Shipping, a joint venture between Mitsui & Co and Nissen Shipping, also signed a shipbuilding contract for four 40,000-cbm LPG carriers at Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding.
Lepta Shipping, a regular customer, accounts for about one-third of Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding’s total order book of 64 vessels.
The price of the Jaldhi Overseas vessels has not yet been announced, but brokers estimate the cost of a single 40,000 cbm LPG carrier to be approximately $67 million.
