CSSC Qiyao Environ Tec Achieves Methanol Fuel System Breakthrough for Smart VLCC Newbuilds

Recently, the world’s first methanol fuel-powered intelligent VLCC methanol supply system independently developed by Shanghai QiYao Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (Qiyao Environ Tec), a subsidiary of CSSC, successfully passed the factory acceptance test (FAT) acceptance under the witness of Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong), Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) and China Classification Society.

The system has fully completed inspection items such as maximum load steady-state test, sudden increase/decrease performance test and continuous operation test, and all technical indicators are in compliance with specifications and technical requirements.

After years of technical research, the Qiyao Environ Tec project team has made breakthroughs in key technologies such as methanol fuel pressure control, intelligent security monitoring and optimization of skid structure stress.

The methanol fuel supply system developed by the company can continuously and stably supply methanol that meets the flow, pressure and temperature requirements for the main and auxiliary engines of dual-fuel ships. At the same time, it can also meet the requirements of maintaining stable supply pressure at the fuel end under various operating conditions such as load changes, and can effectively ensure the stability and safety of the supply of clean fuels such as methanol.

The successful completion of the methanol supply system FAT for the methanol fuel-powered intelligent VLCC is a key step for Qiyao Environ Tec in the field of methanol fuel supply system for ocean-going ships. In the future, Qiyao Environ Tec will launch a spectrum of methanol supply system designs suitable for multiple ships, providing users with green and low-carbon fuel solutions, and providing strong support for the green and low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry.
