On April 3, a naming and delivery ceremony was held for CMA CGM TIGA, a 5,500 TEU container vessel built for CMA CGM by Beihai Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) as the joint seller. The successful delivery of the ship marks the full completion of the 10 5,500TEU container ship project, further consolidating the long-term strategic partnership between the two parties.
During the construction of this series of vessels, Beihai Shipbuilding continuously improved product quality by strengthening the implementation of key projects and key node plans, so that all test data of this series of vessels are better than the specifications and contract requirements, which has been highly recognized and praised by shipowners CMA CGM and Bureau Veritas (BV).
The “CMA CGM TIGA” is a new type of energy-saving, environmentally friendly, green, safe and efficient main medium-sized container vessel designed by Beihai Shipbuilding and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) for CMA CGM. The vessel has a total length of 255.5 meters, a beam of 40.0 meters, a depth of 22.0 meters, a structural draft of 14.0 meters and a deadweight of 73,025.91 tons. This series of vessels adopt the latest generation WinGD7X82-2.0 main engine, equipped with SCR and AMP to reduce sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide emissions.
“CMA CGM TIGA adopts SDARI’s unique S-BOW low-wave drag-enhancing vertical bow design, which achieves the best drag performance under different draught conditions through the multi-operating condition line optimization technology. Combined with high-efficiency propellers and full-suspension twisted rudders, the vessel’s overall energy efficiency is excellent, with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) reduced by more than 50% compared to the baseline, which is significantly better than the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Phase III standard.
